I think everyone is curious about fillers and Botox and wonders if they will really turn back time. They won’t, but they can help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. I am no expert, but I checked in with one of my friends who works at a plastic surgeon’s office. Here is what she told me.
Botox is a non-surgical facial filler treatment used to soften facial wrinkles, particularly the wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes, and in the “crows feet” areas on the upper third of the face. There has to be a muscle movement causing the wrinkle, line or fold for Botox to be effective. Botox is a purified protein and is safe with a 20-year track record. It sounds creepy, but I have found that periodic Botox injections soften my forehead lines. It’s pricey and has to be repeated a couple of times a year. Because you will want the best and most natural results, I would advise you to find a board-certified dermatologist who performs Botox injections him/herself.
Fillers help soften and fill the soft areas of the face. There are many types to choose from and again you will want to work with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Different fillers work on different parts of the face.
As I said in the beginning, I am no expert. If you are considering any of these treatments, talk to your dermatologist. He/she will help you weigh the pros and cons and help you make the best choice for you. Remember that these treatments are temporary and that ongoing treatments will be needed for long-term results.
Is it worth it- what do you think?
