French footwear designer Christian Louboutin knows a thing or two about shoes, and even provided our world with the famous quote: “A woman can carry a bag, but it is the shoe that carries the woman.”
Boots, booties and flats are the go-to shoes for fall 2014. Tall, mid-calf or ankle- all shapes and designs are popular this season. “There is the Southwestern trend … the boots are very functional this season. Not all the heels are sky-high — they’re great for everyday.”says Lauren Talerico. Besides the cowboy style, there are plenty of suede, leather and cut-out details. Some of the boots have stud and grommet details. Riding boots, another popular boot trend this fall, can also be seen as “sporty sophistication” when tucked into skinny jeans.
Flats are have invaded the shoe market. Says Sadie Stein in The New York Times Style Magazine, “I suspect that girls today don’t feel the need to wear heels to transform themselves into grown-up women…where heels were once integral to power dressing, flats now connote a liberation from that stereotype.” Look for animal prints, metallic finishes, lace-up oxfords, sneaker like designs and woven leather. Ah, my feet feel so much better just knowing that comfort rules this season.
